For a while now, James and I have been discussing the possibility of a move out of Rochester. On multiple occasions, God would put in our path an opportunity to move, but just as quickly that opportunity would vanish. Nevertheless, we felt the tug that the Twin Cities was meant to be our next home. It was decided, we would move even without concrete plans.
We are blessed to have so much support and encouragement since we have announced that we’ll be moving. With this news though, comes an onslaught of questions!
Here’s the run down, though so far nothing is concrete. Our lease is up on May 31st and we will then move. We have friends and family who have generously offered to house us during the transition, and will most likely land with James’ parents while we finalize plans. James is looking at numerous churches to gain experience and help us toward our long-term calling of urban ministry. We’ll take the summer to attend these churches and meet with the pastors before we settle on a new home church. Once we reach a church decision, we will be able to find our new home. Our hope is to live in the same neighborhood as our church in order to invest well in our community. Meanwhile I will be taking a temp position at Salvation Army Divisional Headquarters and then looking at full-time positions in the area.
And so that’s where we are currently. We’re in the midst of following God’s lead and awaiting His plans. As Proverbs 16:9 says:
In their hearts humans plan their course,
but the Lord establishes their steps.
Your prayers would be much appreciated during this time of uncertainty. Though we are confident in God’s calling, I like being settled and in control. We want to rely fully on His will and not our own desire for comfort. We also want to go into this together as we shape our future.
We’re happy to meet with you for coffee or lunch before we head out of town, but no worries, we will be back to visit! We won’t be too far away!
